Why Do People Smoke?

  • People start smoking for a variety of different reasons. Some think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they're 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. That's why people say it's just so much easier to not start smoking at all.

Second Hand Smoking!

--Secondhand smoke exposure causes disease and premature death in children and adults who do not smoke.
--Pregnant women, especially, should NOT smoke during the pregnancy. There could be serious damage to the baby and eventually (possibly) KILL the baby.

Smoking

As many know, smoking is a very serious issue. Every year hundreds of thousands of people around the world die from diseases caused by smoking such as:
  • heart disease
  • cancers of the lung, larynx, oral cavity, and esophagus
  • chronic bronchitis
  • emphysema
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD or COLD).
